ZOE ONG is a Chinese American who calls California home. She loves all aspects of English and finds time to bake, read, and Snapchat in between being violently crushed by Singapore American School’s homework load. In addition to being a member of the National English Honor Society, she also enjoys playing the trombone and piano (as long as it’s not considered practicing) and is currently obsessed with Ray Bradbury’s short stories and Isabel Allende’s bewitching prose. EVA MUQUET-VAILLANT is 15 and from Montreal, Canada. she loves writing poetry and is very interested in equality, and journalism. her most significant achievement includes the title of "Writer in Residents" for her school last year. ANISHA MISRA My name is Anisha and I've loved writing for as long as I can remember. I used to handwrite poems in my Mickey Mouse 'Poetry Book' as a kid, and I was the only person my age that I knew who cared about poetry, or prose, at all. I applied for Parallel Ink as soon as I heard about it - an online literature magazine for and by young enthusiasts, how could that fail to catch my attention? There are countless other interests that I have aside from writing. I enjoy doodling and throwing in artistic doodles wherever I can, whether it be on the side of my Math book or on my palm. I also love film and have been making short films for my own leisure ever since I was about nine. Making films has always been more than a pastime to me, it's something I wish to pursue as an adult and something that will always bring out my passion and enthusiasm for things I love. Badminton, Tennis and Ping Pong are also hobbies of mine - anything involving racquets, I probably play it. Oh, and I live in the buzzing city of Singapore, but have also lived in Hong Kong and was born in Gurgaon, India. All these little things make up the enthusiastic and expressive editor that I am for Parallel Ink! CLAIRE ION is half English, half Korean and goes to UWCSEA in Singapore, where she is part of Element magazine, which is an literature and art magazine as well! she loves writing good poetry and dramatic short stories, and reading old-fashioned novels, because she loves to imagine how people went about in different time periods. she also plays a lot of piano and clarinet, having an appreciation for music as well as literature, of course! An award that she has won is the English Award at school for the past academic year. ELAINE PARK’s writing has recently been published in a youth international cultural magazine, Skipping Stones; her work has also been published in Parallel Ink’s first issue. Elaine is fluent in Korean, despite never having lived in Korea, and also works as PI‘s Korean-English translator. In the past, she has placed first at Korean translation and writing competitions in the Midwest and Northwest regions, and she recently won first place at the 18th Annual Korean Speech Contest Northwest region. When she manages to find free time amidst her busy schedule and heavy coursework, Elaine loves to play the viola, watch Korean entertainment and movies, or doodle. DANIEL BLOKH is a 15-year-old writer and author of In Migration (BAM! Publishing, 2016), available now on booksamillion.com. His work has been recognized by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, Foyle Young Poets, Cicada Magazine, Thin Air magazine, and more. Besides being an editor at Parallel Ink, he is a reader at the Adroit Journal. AVA CAUDLE lives in a burning, sweaty inferno known as Florida. She loves reading, crafting stories and poems (of course), playing the cello, thinking about the future, and fiercely debating in her school's JSA chapter, of which she is proud to be the president. She was a 2015 FCTE Writing Awards winner, was published in Gulfstream 2015 as well as on Teen Ink with countless other works in progress (both big and small), and she considers her greatest achievement so far to be receiving a compliment from David Remnick. Young adult books of all kinds, movies (specifically scary or psychologically gripping ones that make you think), Edgar Allan Poe, Ray Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, orchestra things, history, Asian food, and feminism are all things she will rant and rave about for hours on end. ANIKA PRAKASH is a sophomore in high school and the founder and editor-in-chief of Red Queen Literary Magazine. She currently serves as the co-news editor of Two Views Magazine and a poetry editor at Parallel Ink and Venus Magazine. Her work is forthcoming in L'Ephemere Review and she has received a Silver Award regionally from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her poetry as well as her flash fiction. OLIVIA HU is a published poet. Her work has been published eight times in literary magazines with many more forthcoming. She is also a national winner in prose as well as serving on editorial boards for many other literary magazines, including editor-in-chief of Venus Magazine at venusmag.weebly.com. When she isn’t writing, she is wandering the café-scented streets of downtown dreamy-eyed or finding solace in her safe haven, a bookstore. ADITYA CHOUDHARY is the Editor of her school's official magazine, 'Gallop,' as well as A member of the literary committee at the city library. TRICIA ACOSTA is fourteen and endlessly inspired by the people around her. She is a budding wordsmith obsessed with cats, angels, and pretty stationary. Currently, she also serves as the junior visual arts editor of Venus Magazine. When not writing, she's either teaching herself how to code Tumblr themes or working on her Photoshop skills. YU YOUNG LEE collects passions as her homes are collected. From Seoul, Jakarta, London (heart) to Singapore, she's picked up quirks that she holds dear to her heart. Her love extends to fried chicken and Spotify, to the Saatchi gallery and the Smiths, and reading Kazuo Ishiguro (especially when it's raining). She lives by books, not guns. Culture, not violence. |
